What is Gait?

Gait is a Cursor and VScode extension that allows developers to share AI-codegen chats. View the prompts that generated a line of code, continue off of your coworker’s conversations, and view analytics on your AI codegen use. Gait helps store, share, and understand AI-codegen prompts, acting as an AI-Native Version Control system. It’s a collaboration tool that stores prompts, context, and code together, making it easy to understand and edit your team’s AI-generated code.

How to use Gait?

To use Gait, download the extension from the VSCode or Cursor marketplace, install it, and it will automatically read your chat history. Click through different files to see what code was generated with what prompt. Commit your .gait folder to share the context with your team.

Gait’s Core Features

AI Blame: Link prompts and conversations directly to generated code. Codegen Analytics: Measure the impact of AI on your codebase and productivity. Team Collaboration: Share AI-assisted development context with your team through version control.
